Justin Bieber: What I learned

The singer pays tribute to a teacher who inspired him.

Justin Bieber, Pitbull, Miley Cyrus, Quincy Jones, Lady Antebellum and Jason Mraz are paying tribute to the teachers who inspired them in the TV special Real Change: Artists for Education, airing April 23 on many CBS stations. Bieber, 19, gives us a preview:

Why was your teacher inspirational? “Mr. Monteith was my English teacher. He believed in me and supported me in my dreams to become a singer. He gave me the confidence to pursue my passion.”

Best advice you ever got? “No matter how overwhelming things can be, you can get through. … Have faith in yourself and you’ll be surprised how much you can accomplish.”

Is being a role model tough? “I just strive to be the best I can and give back when possible. Through programs like Real Change (liverealchange.com) and Pencils of Promise (pencilsofpromise.org), anyone can help teachers and students in classrooms across the country.”
